I sent the following announcement to 13,161  Digital Health group members on October 19, 2012:

Digital Health Update by Paul Sonnier

Dear Digital Health group members,

This is a brief roundup of noteworthy digital health activity around the globe:

EUROPEAN CONNECTED HEALTH ALLIANCE (ECHALLIANCE) FEATURED IN THE TIMES OF LONDON

“The Future of Healthcare” is a special report by the ECHAlliance and the UK’s Telecare Services Association. Brian O’Connor, chairman of the ECHAlliance, is quoted: http://lnkd.in/arybCn
The ECHAlliance has diligently developed and established permanent Connected and mHealth Ecosystems that engage the whole range of health, wellbeing and social care stakeholders. Note that the ECHAlliance is also sponsoring a two-day EU/US eHealth Marketplace next week in Boston. The event is collocated with the Connected Health Symposium. I’m happy to be a media partner with both conferences, which are featured on my global event list: https://www.wirelesshealthstrategies.com/events.html

NEW YORK EHEALTH COLLABORATIVE (NYEC) DIGITAL HEALTH CONFERENCE

I was fortunate to make it out to NYC (my first time) for this conference (I’m also a media partner). The NYeC is helping to catalyze the integration of digital health both via this annual event and as a partner in the NY Digital Health Accelerator: http://lnkd.in/dqSNnt
I also sat down for an intriguing chat with David Whitlinger, Executive Director of NYeC and Brian O’Connor, chairman of ECHAlliance.

POPPER AND COMPANY DIGITAL HEALTH DINNER IN NYC

I organized a special dinner with C-level executives from several companies, organizations, and health systems representing a broad cross-section of stakeholders in the digital health ecosystem. Participants included recent graduates from the Blueprint Health accelerator, where I’m a mentor – GeriJoy, AdhereTech, and Medikly – and representatives of the ECHAlliance, Intel-GE Care Innovations, Panasonic North America, Vitals.com, HealthQ Technologies, the N. Ireland Dept. of Health & Social Care, and Happtique. It’s always great meeting with leaders in the digital health revolution and collaborating with them further on accelerating positive changes in consumer health and our healthcare systems! http://popperandco.com/

ERIC TOPOL AND CRAIG VENTER VIDEO INTERVIEWS

The WIRED / RWJF “Living by Numbers” event took place in NY this past week. These two videos are fantastic and provide a superb overview of digital health.

Craig Venter “Health, Genomics, Research and Power” http://lnkd.in/fmkSrv

SCRIPPS HEALTH RECEIVES $3.75M FROM QUALCOMM FOUNDATION

This three-year grant to San Diego’s Scripps Health and the Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) will be used to advance the development of diagnostic tests, wireless devices, sensors, and other digital health technologies. Notable companies involved include Airstrip Technologies and DNA Electronics. This grant will go a long way towards catalyzing the types of advancements described by Eric Topol, director of STSI: http://lnkd.in/gxx-wP

USC BODY COMPUTING CONFERENCE
I attended Dr. Leslie Saxon’s conference again this year (reprising my role as media partner). A highlight for me was the digital health work of BMW, which had a demo car at the event: “Your Next Doctor Might Be Your Car” http://lnkd.in/aVYqs7

WLSA WIRELESS HEALTH CONFERENCE

I’m really looking forward to attending this event next week, for which I’m also a media partner. I hope to see many of you there. For those who can’t make it, you can follow along via Twitter hashtag #WHealth.
